How long will a registration last on the PPSR?

— filed under:

You can register a financing statement on the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) for up to five years from the date of registration.

This can be varied if:

  • The secured party chooses a shorter registration period when registering the financing statement.

  • The financing statement is discharged before the expiry date.

  • The financing statement is renewed for a further term.  Renewals need to be completed before the original registration expires.  The date from which the new registration period begins is the date of renewal, not the original expiry date.
